Magical Tools for Imagining
Future Ecologies(conceptual lead + editor + core contributor)
A participatory project that aims at exploring the conditions for creating and articulating images of solidarity, liberation, human and climate justice in the future. The project is centered around a toolkit that I've been developing and is part of the Community Exchange Program by the Global Diversity Foundation. The project relies on conversations, artistic and community-based commissions, and other forms of engagement to unearth tools that can help us answer questions such as: How can we guard our imaginations from colonial pessimism and hopelessness? How can we use works of the imagination together to think of and create other worlds that elude current settler and postcolonial realities? How can activating the imagination in certain ways help alleviate the violence we are bearing witness in many parts of the world?

ʻAyn Ḥawḍ(co-founder)
 ʻAyn Ḥawḍ is an initiative centered around independent, interdisciplinary learning and artistic research and has held events in Tunis and Amman. The project aims to foster and deepen the Maghreb-Mashreq connection by orbiting around themes such as alternative realities, futurisms, and speculative fictions. It seeks to expand the repertoire of artistic and literary knowledge for artists and cultural practitioners in the region.

Niḍālāt was a series of weekly teach-ins, lectures and workshops investigating the urgent question of Palestine within broader regional and global contexts while focusing on the Arab world and its diasporas. The program offered a space for Palestinians, Arabs and allies from across the globe to come together and develop a critical understanding of current events and a shared vision for liberation.

Magical Futures
in Palestine’s Cinema(facilitator)
The workshop, composed of a series of screenings followed discussions based on readings, explored the magical-realistic potential in a selection of Palestinian movies. It invesftigated magical realism as a literary and cinematic mode that tells the Palestinian story while focusing on the ample spaces for hope, agency, unity, and collective dreams of liberation.

A study group exploring magical realism in Palestinian literature as well as science fiction, surrealism, and the Gothic. The study comprised eight sessions. Each session (lasting three hours) was based on a reading (folktale, short story, or an academic article) or a film.
